The most valuable resource in a corporation is its employees. Employee development is regarded almost generally as a strategic instrument for an organization's continued growth, productivity, and capacity to retain valuable people. The company makes a long-term investment in the improvement of its employees. According to (Awasthi and Kumar, 2016,66), employee performance is intimately related to the success or failure of an organization.

The importance of employee development stems from the fact that both companies and employees desire highly skilled personnel. With the cooperation of their company, employees can devote time to learning about how to apply new methods and techniques, expanding their knowledge of an industry or subject area, and enhancing their competencies in several areas. According to (McKay, 2020),when a company prioritizes the growth of its employees, those workers take stock of their abilities, identify their weaknesses, and work diligently to overcome them.

  Benefits of Employee Development

Increased productivity

Workers' effectiveness and output are both boosted through training and development programs. . Effective training leads to increased productivity and improved quality of work. Time, money, and resources are conserved when workers receive adequate training(Jha , 2016).

 Employee Satisfaction

As a result of investing in their employees' professional development and personal fulfillment, companies witness lower turnover rates and greater job satisfaction. Because they perceive it as an investment in their future with the company, employees who receive training are more loyal to their employer(Jehanzeb & Bashir, 2013).

 Employee Performance

Work quality and efficiency both improve when employees have received enough training. And their upbeat demeanor has a contagious effect on the rest of the team. The end result? trained workers who raise profits and productivity(Bethany, 2021).

Inspire Future Leaders

Assuring that the right people are promoted to leadership positions in the future requires investing in employee development today. Future leaders who have been groomed through a company's staff development initiatives are highly committed to staying with the company(Post University Blog, 2020).

 Less supervision

Training helps workers acquire new abilities and gain confidence to take on responsibilities on their own. Simply put, a well-trained worker will need less oversight because they will already be familiar with the tasks involved(Jha , 2016).

 Encourages employee retention

Training and development of employees is an indirect way to keep them on board. An employee is less likely to seek elsewhere for employment or to feel unappreciated if their employer gives them the resources, they need to do a great job(Bethany, 2021).

  Employee development methods

Employee Training

Market conditions and the kind of the investment determine the influence of investment on employee productivity. If all training were particular, an employee's compensation would be independent of his/her training (Marsikova and Slaichova, 2015).

 Coaching and mentoring

Technical and analytic skills, among others, can be honed through coaching. Courses provided by employers often focus on teaching employees how to better interact with others and resolve conflicts(Neupane, 2015).

 On Job Training

Job-based training is a cost-effective way to boost employee confidence. By helping new hires adjust, On-the-job training keeps new hires from feeling lost and confused. Organization set them up for success by offering relevant instruction(Waters, 2022).

Career planning and Performance appraisal

Employees drive career advancement. Employees are told to own the notion. They must assess their skills and talents, set goals, design plans, and implement developmental activities, frequently without management guidance. Performance assessments can be used on employee "traits" — abilities and dispositions specified on an organization-wide form with ratings(Murerwa, 2017).

Conclusion

It is essential for businesses to foster an environment in which employees are encouraged to participate in a variety of education and training programs. Not only do chances for professional growth and training for employees increase individual productivity, but they also contribute to the continued success of an organization over the long term. Investing both time and money into the education of one's workforce has the potential to increase both the human and intellectual capital of a business.
